Terms of sale and use
Last updated 15 October 2026
These terms cover buying and using Numbat: the spreadsheet, the Notion template, the bundle, the Numbat app and our free calculator. Numbat is run by Jordan Neenan trading as Numbat Tax, a sole trader in Brisbane, Queensland (ABN 33 273 586 545). By buying or using Numbat, you agree to these terms.
Numbat is a planning tool, not tax advice
Numbat gives you an estimate based on the information you enter and the Australian Taxation Office's published rates for the financial year. It isn't financial, tax or legal advice, and it doesn't replace a registered tax agent or BAS agent. It's designed for Australian resident sole traders and doesn't cover every situation, for example the Medicare levy surcharge, family thresholds, capital gains, PAYG instalments the ATO sets for you, or depreciation of large assets. Check your figures before you rely on them. You're responsible for what you lodge with the ATO.
Buying
- Prices are in Australian dollars. Purchases are processed by Stripe through its Link checkout as the merchant of record (the legal seller), so Link's terms also apply to the payment and Stripe handles any tax on the sale. Your card statement shows LINK.COM* NUMBAT.
- The spreadsheet, Notion template and bundle are one-off purchases, delivered as a download straight after payment, with the links also emailed to you. If you lose them, get them again here. There's no subscription.
- Your purchase gives you a licence to use Numbat for your own business. Please don't resell, share or republish the files or the Notion template link. If you're an accountant or bookkeeper who'd like to use it with clients, get in touch.
Updates for new financial years
Tax rates change each July. Buyers of the 2026–27 edition will get the updated rates for 2027–28 by email, free. For later years we may offer a new edition, possibly as a paid upgrade, and we'll always tell you before you buy.
The Numbat app
- The app is in early access and free to use. We may change or add features as we go.
- If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell you in advance. You'll always be able to export your data.
- The app is local-first: your data stays on your device, not our servers. That keeps it private, but it also means backing it up is up to you. Use the export feature regularly. See our privacy policy.
Refunds
If Numbat isn't right for you, contact us within 30 days of buying and we'll refund you in full, no questions asked. Use our contact form or email [email protected] with the email address you bought with. Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe.
Australian Consumer Law
Our products come with guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Our 30-day refund is on top of them, not instead of them.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses that come from relying on Numbat's estimates, such as tax shortfalls, interest or penalties, or from data lost from your device. Where our liability can't be excluded, it's limited to supplying the product again or refunding what you paid.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms. The version on this page when you buy applies to that purchase. Questions? Email [email protected] or use our contact form. These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
